However, the latest development revealed that the president has extended his leave indefinitely and this has caused a stir among Nigerians who are home and abroad.
In the absence of the president, a lot of major events have occurred even though Buhari made designated his duties to Vice President Osinbajo who took over the helm of leadership from the 74-year-old Nigerian leader.
Recall that the president left the country the same day he passed the letter of notice to the senate president. In view of this, the president started his leave earlier than the set day in the formal letter written.
The hasty departure of President Buhari filled the hearts of Nigerians with uncertainty as many kept wondering what made him leave. This concern was discarded by some other group who saw the need for the president to go on vacation with the troubles of this nation.
It was the third time the president would go on vacation ever since he became the president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
The fake news of his death also spread like fire with many loyal Nigerians praying for the president’s safe return and ignoring the news spread by the haters. However, the leave extension is unsettling as Nigerians do not know which direction to turn or stir with this change in event.
Find out the possible reasons the president might have extended his stay:
1. The supposed test results

The circular passed by the president’s special adviser on media and publicity, Femi Adesina, revealed that President Buhari is unable to return to the country because he is waiting for some test results.
Femi Adesina revealed that the president was advised to complete the test cycle before returning to the country.
2. The president’s health may be worse than we know

There have been many rumors surrounding the president’s health status. While people who are against his administration keep clamoring about his fragile state of health and declaring him to be unfit to rule this nation, many patriotic citizens pray for the president and wish him a safe return.
Nigeria has been described as an import dependent, cash flow deficit and deeply divided nation. Thus, Nigerians anticipate the return of the president.
However, the indefinite extension of the leave is leaving lots of Nigerians confused. In times like this, many keep talking about late President Yar’adua and the drama that happened in Nigeria then.
3. Lai Mohammed’s stand

It should be recalled that the minister of information, culture and tourism addressed Nigerians some days ago when he talked about the health of the president. He said the security of the president is 10 times more than that of any other person.
He reminded Nigerians that priority is always given to the health and safety of the president in every country. This may be a hint that a lot is going on in between the high and mighty with no one ready to breathe a word to the public about the true state of affairs.
