Acting President Yemi Osinbajo has sworn in five commissioners of the National Population Commission (NPC) who were earlier nominated by Muhammadu Buhari.
The swearing in ceremony held on Wednesday, February 1, at the Council Chamber before the commencement of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting at the State House, Abuja.
According to The Nation, those who took oath of office were Eyitayo Oyetunji, Benedict Ukpong, Haliru Bala, Patricia Iyanya and Gloria Izonfo.
The acting president shortly after the ceremony proceeded for a group photograph with the new commissioners.
In another development, a report by Daily Trust indicates that the presidency and the National Assembly have reached a new deal that will permit the federal government to take $1billion Euro bond to stimulate the country’s economy.
According to the report, President Muhammadu Buhari sent the request to the National Assembly on Thursday, January 26.
The report quoted an unnamed source as saying Acting President Yemi Osinbajo signed the letter sent to the legislatators.
Sources said the two presiding officers have agreed to call the legislators from their break to consider and approve the $1billion bond request.
