LASG asks traditional leaders to be upright

The Lagos State Government has asked monarchs and other traditional rulers in the state to live above board by exhibiting exemplary conducts in their jurisdictions.
The Commissioner for Local Government and Community Affairs, Muslim Folami, stated this on Friday at an interactive session on security in the state.
He said the recent arrest of a traditional ruler for allegedly faking his kidnap to cause unrest was unacceptable.
“The state government expects traditional rulers who are custodians of traditions, culture and values to display high level of decorum,” he added.
The Oba of Lagos, Rilwan Akiolu, pledged the loyalty of the traditional rulers to the government in maintaining peace across the state.
He said with the foiling of the arranged kidnap by the Baale of Shangisha, residents of the state were better aware that there was no hiding place for criminally-minded individuals in Lagos.”
Akiolu said the task of policing and information gathering should be seen as a responsibility of all.
The Ayangburen of Ikorodu, Oba Kabiru Shotobi, said the secret of those fomenting trouble in the ancient town of Ikorodu had been exposed as a result of the concerted efforts by security agencies and traditional rulers.
The Akran of Badagry, De Aholu Menu-Toyi 1, urged the residents to continue to coexist in peace.
