MTN Foundation spends N96m on Ondo pupils scholarship

The MTN Foundation said it has invested no less than N96m on providing scholarships and sets of school furniture to students and pupils in Ondo State.
The foundation said the action was in line with its determination to bring hope to the young ones and assist them to scale hurdles in their path to learning and development.
The chairman of the MTNF, Mr. Julius Adeluyi, disclosed this while handing over the 150 students desks and benches and 15 teachers tables and chairs to Aquinas College, Akure, the Ondo State capital.
He said the foundation was ready to partner with the Ondo State Government in all sectors, especially in the area of education, health, security and economy.
He said, “The donation by the MTN Foundation, will enhance the learning experience for the current set of students.
“They are our future and equipping them with tools needed to learn, grow and succeed is critical to their development which in turn, act as a catalyst for our nation’s progress.”
In his remarks, the Ondo State Governor, Mr. Rotimi Akeredolu commended the foundation for the gesture. He urged other corporate bodies in the country to emulate the MTNF in assistance the government by contributing to the development of the primary and secondary schools education.
“Development is difficult where primary and secondary school are ignored. The two level of education is very important to us, that is why we are committed to the development of the sector,”Akeredolu stated.
The principal of the college, Mr. Babasola Ayibiowu, who lauded the MTNF for the gesture, appealed to well-meaning Nigerians to assist the school in the area of provision of education facilities and equipment.
