Sokoto election Tribunal receives 33 petitions


The election petitions tribunal in Sokoto said it had received 33 petitions from candidates in the just concluded election.

The chairman of the tribunal Justice Yusufu Bale Muhammad stated this in Sokoto at the first sitting of the tribunal.
He added that three of the petitions came from senatorial elections, 10 from house of representatives polls while 20 petitions from house of assembly elections.
Senator Ibrahim Danbaba of Peoples Democratic Party is challenging the election of Abubakar Shehu Tambuwal of All progressives Congress for Sokoto South senatorial district.
In the same vein senator Ahmad Maccido of PDP is challenging the election of Senator Aliyu Wamakko of APC for Sokoto North senatorial distinct.
Also the member representing Tambuwal/Kebbe Federal House of Representatives and candidate of Peoples Democratic Party Abdulsamad Dasuki who is also the chairman house committee on Navy is challenging the election of Hon Bala Kakoni of the All Progressives Congress.
The speaker of Sokoto State House of Assembly Hon Salihu Maidaji is also challenging the election of Senator Ibrahim Gobir for Sokoto East senatorial distinct.
