Zamfara meet with Fulani leaders to end banditry


Zamfara state government has organised security meeting with emirs, chiefs, fulani leaders and the state commissioner of police Mr. Celestine Okoye with a view to strategize and curtail banditry activities in the state.

The speakers at meeting which took place at the secretariat of the state ministry for local government and chieftaincy affairs Tuesday presided over by its commissioner Hon. Bello Dankande Gamji stressed that most of the atrocities committed in the state are perpetrated by Fulani outsiders most of whom were not residents of the area.
Gamji urged the Fulani leaders to channel their grievances if any to the government to profer solution instead of indulging themselves in the dastard act warning that in the absent of such, the government will be left with no action other than to bulldoze its way, wield its power with the assistance of security agencies to fish out anybody found in the bush.
“We cannot fold our arms and watch our people killed, our wives raped, our properties carted away with by outlaws, we can decide to keep your women with us when they come into town to sell their fura and mono, to hold your cows if you come to the market to sell. Well make sure you stay in the bush and we stay in our towns to see who suffer the most.” Gamji boast
The government according to Gamji will recruit 1,700 civilians security personnel to complement the effort of security agencies in the state explaining that each emirate council will recruit one hundred in number who’ll be assigned to enter the bush in an effort to take the fight to the den of the bandits.
In his remarks the chairman council of chiefs, emir of Gusau, Alhaji Ibrahim Bello stressed that the inclusion of the Fulani heads is crucial and has since started yielding fruits and and progress has been recorded while positive move to curtail the activities of criminality and banditry in Zamfara state.
In his remarks Zamfara state chairman of Miyetti Allah Alhaji Ibrahim Sulaiman while advising the Fulani’s to as Muslims give out zakaat which he explained is one of the aspect that curtail problems in one’s life also enjoined government to ensure that the Fulani’s are educationally motivated, to enroll their children into western and religiously schools pointing out that atrocities committed by the Fulani’s are perpetrated by stark illiterates among them.
