The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has confirmed that three people have died from an incident that occurred in Ikorodu area of Lagos.
Vanguard reports that a luxury bus fully loaded with travelers plunged into the Owode River on Owode/Ikorodu Road in Lagos state.
Many others were also said to be rescued from the river.
It was gathered that the luxury Blonging to GUO motors was coming from Enugu state and had just approached the river when the incident happened.
Confirming the incident, the spokesperson for the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) South-West zone Ibrahim Farinloye said the body of three people including the driver have been recovered.
Farinloye said 48 people were rescued from drowning in the river.
He added that rescue operation was still on as 9 am on the scene where the incident occured at about 3 am on Friday, February.
