The Nigerian Army has started the task of organising the 2017 Weapons Championship inside Sambisa forest after ousting Boko Haram terrorists from their stronghold.
The army announced in 2016 that it has ousted terrorists from Sambisa forest and promised to put it to good use so that the terrorists will not return to the place.
According to Brigadier General Sani Kukasheka Usman who is the director army public relations, range and other facilities will be constructed in the forest for the championship.
He said: "The Nigerian Army Engineers (NAE) Corps in a bid to actualize the directive of the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Yusufu Buratai, of holding this year's Nigerian Army Small Arms Championship (NASAC 2017), in Sambisa Forest, Borno State, has mobilized to site and commenced access roads clearance and construction of range and other facilities:"
