Fadama III additional financing completes training of 121 GUYS

The World Bank Yesterday completed the training of 121 participants under the Enterprise Development Training Graduate Unemployed Youths and Women Support Programme (GUYS).
The participants were trained on advisory extension services, agro inputs marketing, cassava,rice, vegetable and crop production respectively.
Others were trained on fish farming,grasscutter production,cattle rearing,ram fattening, sheep rearing,small ruminants, poultry farming and value addition.
The training was conducted by the FCT College of Education-Zuba in Collaboration with the third National Fadama Project, Additional Financing (Fadama III AF).
Speaking at the event, FCT Minister, Mallam Muhammed Musa Bello said “the Fadama III AF project has continued to break new grounds in its efforts towards ensuring the attainment of the project development objective”.
Represented by the Secretary, Agriculture and Rural Development. Secretariat, FCTA Dr Musa Aliyu,he said “With the successful completion of this training for 121 unemployed graduates and the subsequent funding support to be provided in forms of starter packs,it would enable them become successful agropreneurs in their chosen Enterprises.
” It is equally instructive to observe that the funding support that will be provided to these trained agropreneurs goes beyond the creation of gainful employment and sustainable means of livelihoods to them alone as it triggers a deliberate process for the creation of several other jobs for different categories of people along the agricultural value chains”
The Minister assured that the FCT will on its part continue to Provide the necessary support to the young agropreneurs through sustained efforts for the creation of an enabling environment that facilitates the growth and development of micro small and medium enterprises(MSMEs) in the territory
He further directed the FCT, Fadama III AF “to ensure effective supervision and adequate monitoring of the activities of the trained agropreneurs after the establishment of their respective farm enterprises”.
Also speaking,the National Project Coordinator, Fadama III AF, Taye Adewumi represented by Samuel Alabi said the project concurrently being carried out across 23 states of the federation.
Commending the support of the FCT administration which he said they had enjoyed from right from Fadama II,he said “the massive support has been so tremendous that we can’t but continue to ensure that any form of our support comes to the FCT”
“Now that we have seen the capacity that the school has, we will ensure that we continue to partner with you even in doing more of this business as time goes on”.
“We are counting on you in the FCT,to turn agriculture around, to add value to what agriculture is doing and help contribute their quota to bring Nigeria out of recession” he said.
He assured that project would within 2/3 weeks flag off the disbursement of funds to the beneficiaries
While urging the beneficiaries to make effective use of all they had learnt,he thanked the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Chief Audu Ogbeh whom he said had stood behind them to ensure the project accomplishes the vocal point of the administration.
