For 10 years, Peter Itokpa Adogun practised as a successful lawyer in Kwara state and even appeared before the Supreme Court on behalf of his clients.

Adogun was arrested after practising for 10 years
He has now been arrested by the Nigeria Police Force and arraigned after he was discovered to have been practising using the name, Barrister IT David and upon a petition on behalf of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) by its legal adviser, Oyetunji Ojuokaiye.
It was discovered that Adogun practised using the credentials of one Inufin Taiwo David, a lawyer based in Abuja after convincing the latter that he was being assisted to get a job in an oil company.
The New Telegraph reports that Adogun ran to Ilorin, the capital of Kwara state with the photocopies of the credentials and started practising. He also appeared before all the grades of the country’s courts up to the Supreme Court and even won cases in the process.
The first information report shows that he was first arrested and that he jumped bail. He was re-arrested on the roof-top of his house on January 7.
Upon his arrest, he was found with photocopies of a certificate issued by the Council of Legal Education on March 27, 2007, a certificate of ‘Call to the Bar’, dated May 8, 2007 and a Bachelor of Laws Certificate of the University of Maiduguri with date: February 21, 200.
He was also found in possession of an NYSC certificate dated March 5, 2008. All the credentials bore the Inufin David Taiwo’s name.
He is now facing a five-count charge of impersonation, resistance to lawful arrest or escape, using as genuine, forged documents, fabricating false evidence and wearing token used by public servant.
