- Acting president, Professor Yemi Osinbajo presided over the Federal Executive Council meeting in the absence of President Muhammadu Buhari.
With the president on a 10-day vacation in the UK, the acting president took over the weekly meeting on Wednesday, February 1.
Also at the meeting was Babachir Lawal, the sectary to the government of the federation who was accused of corrupt practices although he was later cleared by the presidency.

Before the FEC meeting, Osinbajo sworn in five commissioners of the National Population Commission (NPC) who were earlier nominated by Muhammadu Buhari.
According to The Nation, those who took oath of office were Eyitayo Oyetunji, Benedict Ukpong, Haliru Bala, Patricia Iyanya and Gloria Izonfo.
