Determined to combat the menace of unemployment in the country, the National Directorate of Employment (NDE) in Oyo State has commenced training of unemployed persons in yet another cycle of its Environmental Beautification Training Scheme (EBTS).
The director general of the NDE, Dr Nasiru Mohammed Ladan, at the inauguration of the training in the state recently, said the directorate would continue to impact specialised and marketable skills on unemployed youths so as to boost their chances of being employed or becoming entrepreneurs.
Dr Ladan, who was represented by Mrs Akinyele Oluwatosin at the event, said that despite the current dwindling economic situation in the country, NDE would do all within its powers to resettle outstanding participants at the end of the training.
Earlier in his welcome address, the Oyo State coordinator of NDE, Alhaji Awosanya Adebanjo, pointed out that the specialised training was designed to align the beneficiaries with the current demands and developments in the economy.
The Head of Department, Special Public Works, Mrs Mabel Adeyemi, charged the beneficiaries to optimise the opportunities provided by the training to alleviate poverty and create wealth.
Fifty beneficiaries were selected for the three months training which is already ongoing in Ibadan and Oyo in the state.
EBTS was conceptualised by the Special Public Works department of the NDE. It was just one out of the various programmes being carried out by the programme department in line with the NDE mandate.
